Academic and Behavioral Program
Kenwood Academy offers
a structured full year, full day program for students 12-18
years old, focusing on self-control to access academic instruction,
vocational and social interactions in a small group setting.
Each classroom has one lead teacher with one associate teacher
instructing three to six students with similar academic needs.
The typical teacher student ratio is 1:3, although 1:1 may be
accommodated during transition to a group instructional ratio.
Each student has a specifically
detailed program (academic and behavior) based on information
regarding the student's style of learning, ability and mode
of communication, strengths and challenges, repertoire of behaviors
to increase and decrease, overall goals, interests, and previous
academic and social experience. Curriculum is based on the Massachusetts
frameworks.
Related services including Speech Therapy, Occupational
Therapy and Physical Therapy are provided to the classroom on
a consultative basis. Recommendations are made by the specialists
to the instructors to implement.
