Kenwood Academy is guided by the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. ABA is a scientific evidence based methodology that attempts to change socially significant behaviors that impede progress. We follow these principles, to assure our goals and interventions are objective, measurable and supported by research.
Learning conditions are most favorable when interfering or challenging behaviors are minimized. Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), work to identify the function of behaviors and strive to increase functional communication responses (FCR’s). Through assessments, daily observation and objective data collection, the BCBA generates a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that will enable the student to access the general curriculum. With the use of positive reinforcement we foster confidence and autonomy in our students.
